Owl Cupcakes

My Cupcakes

I got this idea from an image I found on a google image search for owls. They don't look difficult and mostly aren't. The steps are simple

Directions

1. Bake cupcakes

2. Frost with chocolate flavor of choice

3. Outer eyes are opened tiny oreo cookies

4. Inner eyes are jelly beans cut in 1/2 

5.Beaks and feet are cut up circus peanut candy

6. Ears are tiny Oreo sides cut in 1/2 and stuck into the frosting

Where I ran into problems

1. The eyes in the google image were regular size Oreo cookies but they kept falling off of the cupcakes because they were too heavy to stick in the frosting.

2. Trying to cut a jellybean in 1/2 is tricky. (use a thin straight bladed knife and don't saw)

3. trying to cut the cookie for the ears is tricky to do without crumbling. (use a serrated knife and saw lightly with them flat)
